Jiahui (Antonia) Zhang, Class of 2019

The enthusiasm of everyone I have met at UT Dallas is what has influenced me the most. They are so kind and warm. People love to help you with your problems and share fun things during the conversation. Patience has made a deep impression on me and has helped me grow. Professors are always willing to answer my questions after class, and always confirm whether I understand what he/she said; Members in organizations teach me how to arrange my work and keep me on track, ensuring I would not make any mistakes. I would encourage new students to work more on their communication with people. There are many senior students who share their experience: how to arrange your class, how to find the internship, how to prepare for the CPA exam…I am confident that you will love them.
Nan Wang

Nan Wang, Class of 2019

The high-ranking of the business school is the main reason for which I chose UTD. I wanted to study for my Master’s degree and at UT Dallas, I had a chance to study with professors who have a lot of industry experience and learn among many hard-working students. I have made a lot of new friends, who are very friendly and willing to help. The professors are also very professional and care about their students. Because of the many opportunities within the program, I have networked with many current students and alumni, who have shared a lot of tips and experiences. Through communicating with them, I have improved my academic performance and social skills. For future students, be active and get involved in all kinds of activities. Make more friends and try your best to get what you want.
Patty Xie

Patty Xie, Class of 2018

The help and support from the MS Accounting Program Director, mentors, and friends influenced me the most in coming to UT Dallas. Mentors and friends guided me in many ways during my time at UT Dallas. I had the chance to improve my leadership skills and have a better understanding of the career path I wanted to take as an Accounting professional by participating in campus events and organizations, such as Ascend UTD Student Chapter.
Chenyang Hu

Chenyang (Cheryl) Hu, Class of 2019

After coming to UT Dallas, what has influenced me the most, are those who are around me. The dedicated professors, the diligent students, and every friend I have made here, always keep me motivated to become a better person. I have opportunities to meet different people every single day. They might be alumni, a professional giving a speech at an organization event, or a student I just met with a different background. I try and get connected with them. Because of this wonderful journey, there has been a huge improvement in my communication skills.
Max Peter Quast

Max-Peter Quast, Class of 2018

UT Dallas offers the best value to international students. The program offers both academic excellence and professional networking opportunities galore. I chose UTD over other offers and have not regretted my choice. It is encouraged for anybody in the program to get involved in student leadership. Through this, I began being involved for the first time in my academic career. Make a plan of what you want out of your degree before you arrive. The best opportunities are at the beginning of the semester; to take advantage of them, you need to know what you want.
Sung Ben Il

Sung (Ben) Il, Class of 2019

UT Dallas has a well-established MS Accounting program, which provides students with great classes to strengthen their academics, along with many opportunities to develop their professional skills. The economy in Dallas is growing, so international students like me have more opportunities to get a job after graduation. I joined one of the student organization called ASCEND where I served on the Professional Development Committee. I learned how to communicate with professionals via email and how to cooperate with others through organizing professional and academic events. I believe I developed many leadership and professional skills by actively participating in the organization. I would encourage all students to join student organizations in which they could make friends and learn many professional tips. By doing so, it will help you in your future endeavors.
Chuanhui Tang

Chuanhui (Cathy) Tang, Class of 2019

In my choice to come to UT Dallas, the flexibility to intern and the high ranking of Jindal School of Business influenced me the most. The thriving economy of the Dallas area also provided me with a lot of internship opportunities. I have had opportunities to get involved in networking and volunteering for events. This helped me become more comfortable introducing myself to others, taking initiative in small tasks and cooperate effectively with teammates. I also learned to utilize the strength of each team member, effectively sell my idea to the team, how to deal with conflicts, and challenge myself to learn new things, from working for a client in the business communication class.

Incoming State & Local Tax Associate, RSM

The Accounting program at The University of Texas at Dallas has helped me tremendously these past few years. I found my internship and future full-time job at RSM through this program and made many friends along the way. I have always felt supported during my time in the program and could not have done it without my peers and program advisors. I got the opportunity to be involved in the Professional Program in Accounting, and I am an Accounting Peer Mentor. Both have allowed me to be the best leader and accounting professional I could be. I will always remember my time in this program and what I have learned as I begin my professional career.

FSO Tax Staff, EY Dallas

I chose UT Dallas, … and I’m satisfied with my decision for several reasons. The program is flexible so that I can take classes based on my own interest. For example, we can take few general classes in the first semester and dig into one or two specific areas such as internal audit and tax. The Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex is one of the fastest growing areas in the U.S. There are a lot of job opportunities, so I was able to obtain several internships from a public accounting firm and the aviation industry. Everyone at UT Dallas is always willing to fully support each student not only about their professional careers but also other important aspects of school life, such as cultural differences, housing, hobbies and health. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns about the application, program, living in Dallas, and your professional career.

The professionals who came to recruit or speak in a class and those who I met being a TA, did a lot to influence and motivate me. UT Dallas’s accounting program has allowed me to learn and experience many different things. I’ve come across many great opportunities, as well as great people, including my friends, classmates and professors. My lifelong process both as a person and a professional isn’t always easy. However, my time here as a student, as well as the people that I have met, have definitely helped me gain a lot more confidence in myself. The memories and experiences here are things that I will definitely remember for a lifetime.
Nhi Dahlia Lle portrait

Nhi (Dahlia) Le, Class of 2021

Tax Intern, HM&M

I started out as a transfer student at JSOM in fall semester 2018. Being a junior at that time wasn’t easy. I felt overwhelmed because I needed to start by learning the smallest things, like the direction to Chick-fil-A or how to print my essay in the computer lab. It was easy to feel lonely at times because as a transfer student, I didn’t have as many established relationships with friends and the school’s faculty compared to someone who had attended UTD since they were a freshman. I am a non-traditional student who transferred from Collin College, and I am currently one of the ambassadors of the Professional Program in Accounting. I am completing an internship at PwC ,where I hope to get a full-time offer. Being associated with the Peer-to-Peer Mentoring program helped ease my transition into UTD and has allowed me the opportunity to do the same for others and give back. These accounting programs have opened up doors I never thought possible and have given me every opportunity I could have asked for. It has been an honor meeting so many great individuals and being a part of the growth of the accounting program.

My best experience with the program is helping my mentees to know the opportunities that the UTD accounting program has to offer. I love sharing information about programs such as PPA, Undergraduate Accounting Club and Accounting Breakfast Club. Most of my mentees are transfer students, who do not know about the requirements for programs like PPA. Through email and events, I shared the step-by-step process to join the program. And I’m happy to know that the mentees I talked with during the welcoming event are now a part of PPA and one is on his first internship with one of the Big Four accounting firms

The master’s in accounting program at UT Dallas has multiple tracks to offer, which adds best value to incoming students. Each track is tailor-made to suit the background and interests of the students. The program has a plethora of networking events and resources — to socialize, volunteer, meet prospective employers and make some amazing friends. The warmth and kindness of everyone in the department has made my transition here a smooth one.

Moss Adams Tax

At Moss Adams, I had the opportunity to work on a wide variety of different types of projects and tax returns that gave me practical experience in how to provide client value and operate within the world of public accounting. Although my first tax returns seemed dauntingly insurmountable, my coworkers were always available to answer both short and long questions about aspects of work that I didn’t understand. I’m so grateful for how the PPA program and Moss Adams have trained me to succeed in public accounting and I look forward to rejoining Moss Adams full time after graduation.

Our program director and coordinator have always helped me whenever I had any questions, whether it be with my course selection, degree plan or CPA exam preparations. They are concerned about both me personally and professionally. They keep me in mind for whatever they find beneficial to me. Our professors are always willing to help and share patiently. I learned from all of them that I would not only pay back to them on how they have helped me, but also pay forward to other UTD students who need my help. I chose to come to UT Dallas because Senior Lecturer Mary Beth Goodrich explained how the master’s in accounting program at UTD can benefit me with both academics and social resources, and encouraged me to apply for it. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.
Rachel Mckenna portrait

Rachel McKenna, Class of 2020

I chose to come to UT Dallas due to the prominence of the business school, the accessibility of jobs in the Dallas area after graduation, proximity to my family, and the existence of the five-year Professional Program in Accounting (PPA). I stayed at UTD due to the people I met and built relationships with, and the positive learning environment I have experienced as a student. I felt it was important to me in starting here as a freshman to identify resources on campus that would guide me throughout college. One thing I have learned about UTD is that the resources are available, and taking the time to become informed about all UTD has to offer is well worth it!
